  • Why should I register early?

So you are guaranteed to make the cut.  Max limits the # of participants to help ensure the highest quality race.  It’s first come, first serve so please register early…

  • What is the minimum age to participate in a Triathlon?

USA Triathlon recommends 15 years as a suggested age for beginners, however we have allowed participation of younger athletes.  A parent or guardian must contact us prior to signing up for the event.

  • What happens when the weather is horrible on race day?

We can’t predict the weather nor what the specific circumstances will bring, but chances are good that we’ll race! We wouldn’t want to waste all that training.  You will be notified via email and social media in the event of changes to the event.  As part of our policies, Max reserves the right to change, alter or cancel any portion of the event that we determine to be unsafe secondary to weather conditions.

  • I signed up for this race, but I can't compete. What is your refund policy?

Please visit: Policies Page for our Refund/Transfer Policies.

  • Do I have to be a member of the USAT to compete?

No.  You don’t have to be an annual member but you will need a 1-day pass to race.  This is covered in more detail during the online registration process.

  • When and where can I pick up my race packet?

You can pick up your race packet; including race number and timing chip at each of the race locations on the day prior to the event, as well as EARLY on race morning.  Typically, Packet pickup on the day prior will be from 3-6pm, but will be announced in the Athlete Packet.

  • What do I need when picking up my race packet?

You will need a photo ID. If you’re registering the day of the event, you’ll also need your USA Triathlon annual membership card, FOB or digital proof of membership.  One day memberships can also be purchased on the weekend of the event as a late registrant.

  • Can I pick up my friend's race packet?

Unfortunately, we cannot allow for anyone other than you to pick up your packet. As a USAT sanctioned event, we follow guidelines.  All Relay Team members must be present to pick up their packets.  In addition, Race packets will not be mailed prior to or after a race.

  • What if my chip malfunctions or it comes off during the race?

It’s happened to us.  Just bring it to a Volunteers attention during the race and tell the guys at the finish line and we’ll record your time using manual backups.

  • When will I receive the Athlete Packet?

The Athlete Packet is a 15 page PDF file, rich with up-to-date information.  It is delivered via email and can be downloaded from the Max website approximately 1 week prior to the event.  We wait until we are within this reasonably close range of the race to ensure we can provide important race updates, traffic conditions, and wave determinations.

  • How long will the post-race ceremonies take?

They are an excellent part of the event.  Accolades are deserved and the raffles have always been well received.  We’ll work through them expeditiously.

  • Will there be people at all turns on the bike portion of the race?

Yes. Just be careful on the turns and follow the directions they tell you to obey.

  • How many water stations will there be?

Water stations vary by race.  We’ll make sure there are plenty to keep you hydrated at various locations throughout the courses.

  • Is raising money for charity mandatory to race with Max Performance?

No. Supporting a charity for a Max race is completely voluntary.

  • How can I contribute to one or more of the charities you've designated?

Part of your proceeds goes to the benefactors plus the Athlete Packet will describe the process for making contributions directly.

  • Where did the name Max Performance come from?

Besides the obvious athletic metaphor, our dog is named Max.  And he’s one amazing dog.  He has over a 30-inch vertical leap, swims effortlessly in the ocean, and runs the 40 in 3.3.  We’re working on the bike part with him now.
