2009 Testimonials

"It was a wonderful race. I finished 5th in my age group, and came to find out there were 5 in my age group. But I finished and was thrilled to cross that finish line still standing. My daughters and nieces made it a great family event, with our family cheering us on. The venue was beautiful. Can't think of one thing I would have done differently."

Kathy P.

“I felt the race was great and the venue was fantastic. I've been racing in triathlons since 2001. The staff and volunteers were helpful and informative both on packet pick-up and on race day. Even though the day was fairly overcast I liked how the courses were both shaded. I also like the out and back style of run. You can keep an eye on those who you are competing with. The tent festival area was great also. I also liked the inspiration booth you had for the kids to make signs for their relatives competing. When the kids have something to keep them occupied it makes it much easier for those watching them and makes it more pleasurable for the kids during all the waiting time. The bike racking system was new to me and took some getting used to, for my bike it was more of a balancing act to keep it up right. The parking I thought was great also. I've never parked so close to the transition area. The weeks leading up to the race I wasn't sure where you were going to put everybody. Overall, the race was superior and I look forward to talking some more of my newbie friends into doing it with me next year. Folks who have not been exposed to the atmosphere that you have provided are in for a treat. It is such positively charged electric experience. Every time I leave a race I'm filled with fun stories and fond memories. I find it is the most fun to share them with someone else who gets it.

Keith B.

"I really enjoyed 2 of the swim clinics and also yesterday’s race. It was my first tri and I am really impressed with how many volunteers you had, how many water and aid stations you had, and the whole organization of the day. Also, the volunteers were extremely helpful with where to go at each transition which was awesome. The only thing that could be improved was that the start was delayed and the race started about a half hour late. Thanks again for a great race and I will be back next year"

Bash Z.

"I thought you all did a wonderful job putting on the race. The volunteers along the course and at the transitions were very helpful and encouraging. The swim was filled with comforting safety boats and the bike course was well marked to make you aware of hills and dangerous turns. Thank you for a great day!"

Liane D.

"This was my first triathlon. I was very comfortable asking questions to your staff. They were great. I was a little nervous with the swim; I am not a swimmer however your swim set up was great for newbies. I enjoyed talking with other new athletes as well. Thanks for a great day."

Rene M.

"This was only my second race. The volunteers/workers were awesome!! There was NO WAY I could get off-course!!! They were so supportive and helpful!!! Even when I wanted to walk instead run - the volunteers were cheering me on to keep my head up -dig deep inside -I’m almost to the finish!!! In that wind it helped!!!! I can’t wait for Buzzards Bay Race! Thanks!!"

Dorene A.

"I just wanted to personally thank you for making my first triathlon experience an outstanding one. I'm 16 and didn't really know much of anything about a triathlon a few months ago, and with your newbie help line I was brought up to speed quickly and competed on Sunday. I loved it and you will definitely see me at the Mass State Triathlon. Thank you so much for being so helpful to the new athletes of this awesome sport!"

Alex O.

"Thank you for a wonderful day in Sharon. What a fabulous job you and your crew did. I have wonderful memories of the Sharon race from "the old days" and in my first season back (now as an old fogey) I have a wonderful new memory. I was the competitor whose tire burst in transition about 30 mins before the swim start - and once I sheepishly identified myself you would have thought I was a top driver at the Indie by the speed at which everyone got me and said tire to Quad and back on the bike! Nice Work!"

Linda C.

"What a great job you guys did yesterday!! PERFECT! Thanks for stepping at the starting line to help me seconds before the race when it turned out I as a newbie with a green cap was in the wrong wave. I was impressed that you jumped in and handled that 'personally' despite you being the head cheese of the whole event. That said a lot... See you next year!"

Jon E.

"You have the most wonderful, enthusiastic volunteers around. Every one of them is smiling, helpful, encouraging. I can't say enough good things about them. I realize these races could not be successful without them and truly appreciate the time they give to us. The ride and run were awesome. It may have been 80's but somehow the course pretty much stayed in the shade. Thanks for an awesome day!"

Kathy H.

"Just wanted to tell you I had a great experience as a newbie at the Sharon ’s Back Triathlon. From signup to post race someone was always available to answer questions, offer help and send GOOD VIBES in my direction. Couldn’t have asked for a better start in my tri experience."

Nancy

"I enjoyed your Sharon's Back. Good organization, race route, porta-potties, I'll be back and will look into your other races. Thanks."

Jeff G.

"I've sherped and volunteered at lots of races and run a few, this was the best organized and executed race I've seen in a while- a real pleasure. Tim Richmond is a gem."

Kevin G.

"The volunteers on the course were awesome! Not only did they keep me going in the right direction they encouraged me along the entire course. Thanks!"

Testimonials - Season Opener Participants

"Once again I am amazed at how great the races are that Max Performance puts on, no detail was missed as far as I was concerned. The atmosphere was just plain fun, which doesn't always happen post race, but it was a joy to sit and wait for the results, just the fact that kids and dogs are welcome is huge. Thanks for a memorable Mother's Day, can't wait for the July race!"

Tara W.

“What a great day! It was a wonderful race. The atmosphere was very festive, the DJ excellent, the instructions, signs, etc. very clear. Loved the bike racks and transition area. It was great for my spectator to have a few chances to see me go by, and the courses themselves were enjoyable. Very great job with volunteers and police and all the intersections - never a doubt about where to go and often they warned "tight corner" or "it drops off" so we knew what to look out for. Thanks for a great race ... can't wait to see the pictures!”

Tori H.

“I just started doing Tri's last summer. My last one of the summer was Buzzard's Bay and my first of this summer was the Season Opener. I definitely like the way you run everything and the atmosphere you create at these races. Your staff and/or volunteers were all very helpful, supportive and most importantly very kind! Yesterday was just a great way to start the season, I don't think anything could have been done better. So, job well done to you and all who helped run it!!”

Kyle B.

“What a fantastic day! Great race, thanks for all the hard work that went into it! This was my first New England triathlon since moving here from Tucson, AZ, and I was thoroughly impressed! Thanks again so much!”

Sarah B.

“This was a great start to the season. Well organized and well run. I loved how easily you were able to manage things like a bouy deflating and do it without a lot of stress. The transition area was great and had everyone able to get in and out easily. Again, great race and thanks for the hard work!”

Jeff H.

“Great race! Loved the venue. Great bike course and I especially liked the run course. I think it's great the number of giveaways and age group prizes you are able to give away. Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to the Mass State Tri in July.”

Beth W.

“I thought you and your crew did a spectacular job of organizing and orchestrating the season opener tri. It was the easiest course to follow, with plenty of flags, police, and volunteers at every turn! The mood was up-beat with friendly competition in the air...a far cry from the overly intimidating and competitive races I've done in the past. I had a blast and I'm really looking forward to my next race with max performance! Thanks again!”

Beth O.

“Wow! 24 hours later and I am still on this Duathlon-Triathlon High! Your team out-did yourselves! You guys Rock! From the top-notch well-marked, highly organized transition staging area supported by the nicest group of volunteers always game-on for support, direction and motivation to the MC-DJ who played fantastic music!

An awe-inspiring venue -- a scenic rolling run chased by a magnificent bike portion weaving through the streets and up our own-reverse heart break hill back to the park to finish with the most amazing 3-mile run as we traversed our way through the park and over the aqueduct -- with the water glistening around us! This was a gift from the planners of Max -- Running over this causeway -- inspired me to run faster and finish stronger!

The personality and high level of athletism of Max transcended upon your participants -- The awards ceremony was met with entertainment and creativity - You made my Day! Your vendors and sponsors were top shelf! The details -- right down to the gift bags for age category winners were so appreciated!”

Denise C.

Testimonials - Mass. State Participants

“I'm on the TriFury board and have been doing tris (sprint thru IM) for about 5 years - first in AZ and now here in NE for the past 3 seasons.

This race was one of the best organized I have attended! What a great venue. Awesome and well organized volunteers (I often see lots of enthusiastic volunteers but they are not always well coordinated, which makes a HUGE difference). Fantastic signage and logistical support across the board. I will definitely be back and I'm sure you will continue to see large numbers of TriFury folks at your races. Keep up the great work and thank you again for the time, energy and efforts of you and your team!!”

Jocelyn C.

"It was my first time doing a Max Performance race. I want you to know it was exceptional. Everything from the pre race emails, to the course markings, to the volunteers, etc., it was all first rate. I wanted to thank you for a real enjoyable race. Also, thank you for the high five after I forgot my number during the run and had to go back to get it."

Rich S.

"I thought I’d take a minute to tell you what an amazing job you and your team are doing. I LOVE the Max Performance races... I go out of my way to fit them on my calendar because you guys are so organized and enthusiastic. I did the W... Lake triathlon last month, and I was really disappointed in how disorganized and ad hoc everything seemed. I love that you email out the race packets ahead of time and send frequent updates of anything that comes up thereafter...knowing that you and your team are so on the ball lets me just concentrate on the race."

Beth A.

"I heard many good things about last years Mass State races that I was excited to race this year and I was not disappointed. Very pleasant setting on the lake, convenient transition set up, great volunteer placement and good overall size. Everyone I spoke to was helpful and friendly and made me feel great. What a great example that you were able to give some groups fund raising opportunities, and the prizes, racer freebies supported local businesses. What is not to like!? :) Thanks."

Beth P.

"I really enjoyed the triathlon this past weekend and thought it was exceptionally well run. The "Newbies" category is a great idea and the awards were great. The venue was excellent with a clearly marked and not overly crowded swim course, a challenging, but fun bike course, and a reasonable run course at the end. The announcers and DJ were great and rather funny. All in all a great experience and spectator friendly. Your email communications were excellent....Very impressed with the early morning weather update/ reminder at 3-something Sunday morning! I'll be back!"

Ken B.

"I just wanted to take a minute to let you know how much I enjoyed the race. This was actually my first Max Performance race, but it certainly won't be my last. You and your team did an excellent job and I'm already looking forward to next year's race. Everything was well organized, the course was fun, and the awards were great. Keep up the good work!"

Kyle B.

"Loved the pre-race emails, weather updates, etc. - great communications. Packet pick-up, body-marking were swift and painless. Transition was well laid out - obvious entries and exits and plenty of signs on racks. Nice goody bag too along with nice array of vendors, cold drinks nearby and COLD water on the run course. Little long ride getting there and a few too many turnarounds on the run course. Overall, I had a blast!"

John I.

"Thanks for an excellent race! Top quality, great venue, very well organized with tons of support! Well done!"

Abby R.

“The event venue was first rate. The park itself was spacious and very user friendly. No problem with the swim. The bike course was great. It had everything - fast flat areas, a nice climb, and very little car traffic. The run was AOK too - quiet roads, shade, and plenty of water stations. The award ceremony proceeded so quickly that many stayed to the end instead of drifting off. This added to the quality of the event.

You met the challenge of holding a sprint and international distance events on the same course at the same time very well. I had expected some interference between the two but it just didn't happen. Well done.”

Brad H.

"Great job by you and all the other volunteers. This was a fun race and well organized. I appreciate all your efforts, we wouldn't have our sport if it weren't for people like you. Thanks,"

Matt L.

Testimonials - Sharon's Back Participants

“ Great race today! Max Performance did a great job. I'm looking forward to coming back next year. I'm also planning to let my AIM Tri team members know about how well you run a race.

I wanted say thanks for the wet suit raffle prize, too. I went "hoping" to win it, and was so thrilled to win it, because I never win anything!

Keep up the good work, and my friends and I will pass on the good word about your races.”

Patty S.

"Wow! Just wanted to thank you for the great job you did at Sharon. I've run that race many, many times, including when it finished across the street on the grass field. And your version of Sharon kept all the good stuff, and tweaked the bad stuff. Better swim course. No long transition run to the bikes. Bike and courses were perfect as always. Better run finish line location. Everything from number pick up to swim waves to Awards is run smoothly. Sharon is indeed back! Can't wait to return next year!"

Robert G.

"Most enjoyable sprint I have done since I started doing these in 2002! Well done...great volunteers...well organized...terrific course and just a lot of fun. Will be back next year for another PR :)) Congrats on a job well done."

Fred B.
2002 Ironman Hawaii finisher

“ First, thanks for an absolutely great race. This was my third Max Performance race and they only get better. I will wait for the 2009 Calendar before I sign up for any other races. No one does it better in Massachusetts.

I was in transition after the race and I heard a few guys talking...the conversation went something like this: Wow, this race was great. I have been doing some of those FRIM races. Those are ok, but this was great. It was military-like in their organization and I did not need to think about anything. Thanks again for a great race!”

Steve W.

"I thought the entire event was first-class. It was my first triathlon (mostly have done ultras for the past 15 years) and given the logistics you have to content with, I was VERY impressed. Well done and thanks!"

Bob C.

"Tim - I'm sure you have a thankless job but just want to say I was quite impressed with the job you and your staff did today. Being a newbie I don't have much experience but I found the staff extremely helpful, friendly and comforting. Thought the DJ did a great job too, me and my family really enjoyed the day. Look forward to future races :) Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed."

Brian S.

"Hi, I just wanted to commend you on the 'Sharon's Back' triathlon last week you guys did fantastic job in organizing the event, thank you; and I look forward to doing it next year if you'd be so kind as to put it on again."

Anthony S.

"You guys were great. Anytime I had a question in the weeks/days prior to the race I always received a quick response. The race itself was well organized and the bike/run courses were great. Thanks for all your work."

Tom P.

"Great race, Tim! You put on a very good race and have a very nice crew. I hope you continue to do the Sharon tri for years to come. I hope to see you next year!"

Testimonials - Title 9 Participants

"This was a great race! I don't know how you pull it off every time but the atmosphere of your races is just so much better than many of the others I've done. Everyone is so friendly and is out there smiling and having a great time. Job well done, thank you!"

Kelly G.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you for a terrific experience. I have been trying to put into words what a great event this was but there are none. For a woman who grew up wanting to be an athlete with very little opportunity (before Title 9) it was very fitting that for a few hours on Sunday I was able to feel like a real athlete.

Everyone that I came into contact with from Max Performance had a smile on their face and was so helpful. I got a great high five after finishing my swim and a lot of encouragement while transitioning from bike to run. Someone thanked me for smiling! How could I not smile with so much support around me. The race participants were great as well. We encouraged each other to get through the swim, pedal harder, run longer. I have already recruited some of my friends to do a Max Performance triathlon next year and look forward to it!!

Again, thank you!! See you next year.”

Vicki A.

“ I just wanted to drop a quick note and tell you what an absolutely fabulous job you did with the 2008 Title 9 Triathlon this past weekend. It was the second tri I've participated in and the 5th race I've attended, and both, myself and my cheering squad, were blown away with you and your staff's organization and great energy and spirit!! With a tropical storm threatening and lots of athletes depending on you, I can honestly say that all of my expectations for the course and set-up conditions were far surpassed.

This past weekend I was cheered on, encouraged to excel and accomplished goals that were a full year in the making, and I can't help think that I would be remiss if I didn't share that success with you and your crew...the true spirit of athleticism and competition was alive and well this weekend in Hopkinton and I can't thank you enough for it!! See you next year,”

Bernadette M.

"Thank you, Tim, for an awesome race!!! This was my first ever triathlon and I had a blast - it was thanks to how well you guys run a race. Everything was so well organized and your volunteers were helpful, cheerful and encouraging. It was GREAT!!! I also really appreciated all the pre-race emails and especially the meeting at Multi Sport in Arlington - thank you so much for doing all that. Now I can't wait to do another one!!"

Mary L.

“I wanted to send a quick note of thanks for a great event on Sunday. The Title 9 Tri was a wonderful experience. It was only my second triathlon, but I was so impressed by all you did! The pre-race communication was very helpful, the athlete packet was great, and the race-day support and assistance was incredible. I can't remember the last time I was at any event (not just an athletic event!) where volunteers went around soliciting questions and offering help!

I hope you'll continue to offer this race, as I will definitely participate next year and recommend the race to other women who are interested. I also hope you're able to keep the participation at the same level, as I thought the size was just great. (I haven't done the Danskin race but it just seems way too big!) I will also be on the lookout for other Max Performance races, as I was just so impressed by the organization and enthusiasm of the Title 9 event.”

Kathryn A.

“ I feel so sad that I just discovered this wonderful sport at 38! How many wasted years!

I can't tell you how much I truly enjoyed myself Tim and I'm sure you've had high accolades from countless people, but please know the whole process from signing up to crossing the finish line (even with a little road-rash) was flawless in my eyes. Your staff was helpful, sincere and beyond encouraging. I was so impressed and by the entire procedure and you made it look so easy. Heaven knows the prep that goes into these events; the planning, setup and quadruple checking you surely do must be quite a surmountable task. The swim and transition sessions helped me to alleviate some of my worries and all of my questions. The personal service was over the top too! It was actually calming to be able to speak with you on the phone and I thank you for your time. I can't imagine how many calls and e-mails you took from anxious newbies. Thanks Tim, you're very good at your job! Thanks so very much for making my first sprint so memorable. I can't wait for early spring so I can go out and start buying all my goodies for next year! ”

Lisa N.

“ I wanted to thank you for you and your team for organizing a superb race. My first triathlon was amazing. I am still on a high of happiness and amaze that I finished. All of the volunteers were amazing from the guy in the neon green shirt would made me feel comfortable about having a mountain bike on my first race and getting me all set-up to the amazing cheers as i was leaving from the bike to the run. Seriously, I don't know these people and they still were screaming for #402 :)

I cannot wait for the races next year. I will be tracking your website for the new races to be posted :-)”

Meghan F.

"I just wanted to take a few minutes to say what a great job you and your team did...this was my first triathlon and it was very rewarding. I especially would like to thank the people in the kayaks. They literally allowed me to finish my first race since I used them to take much needed breaks from the very choppy water and the slowness of my "strokes". I look forward to participating in more sprint triathlons in the near future especially if Max Performance is running them! Again thank you!"

Karen L.

“ Thanks for a great race!

I have to compliment your crew. My bike suffered a blow out of the front tire while I was waiting for the swim to start. A passerby came to inform me of it - he knew it was my bike because of the number. I went to the bike and found that your crew had already removed the wheel and was getting it fixed. They told me not to worry, to get to the swim and they would take care of my bike. When I finished the swim, the wheel was back on the bike and ready to go! I was impressed and truly grateful for the support that your crew showed me. Thank you all very much!”

Jean K.

“ I just wanted to drop a note to say "thank you" to you and everyone at Max Performance for such a wonderful race on Sunday. I have to say that I enjoyed every aspect of the race. Ok, I have been known to say something to the effect of "even the swim had hills" but, that aside, you folks did a great job. This race was fun. A few notable things that came to mind...

  1. The bike racks were super! It was soooo nice to have adequate space!!!!
  2. The spacing between waves on the swim was wonderful. I am a slower swimmer and I really appreciated not being run over halfway through the course by the next wave.
  3. A volunteer’s soggy hug after I got out of the water. Awesome. I was so pooped after the swim that she got me going for a great bike ride.
  4. Cheerful folks at every corner waving us on.

Again, you have a great team there. It made for a wonderful experience for me, and I'm sure many others. My compliments to you all. I'm definitely coming back next year.”

Marge S.

"I can't compliment you and the Max Performance team enough. Yesterday's race was fun, it was well organized, and I will definitely do it again next year. I've done Danskin two years in a row and it is too big, too chaotic, and borderline unsafe. I will likely skip that race next year in favor of one of your other races."

Jennifer B.

“I just want to thank you all for everything you did to make yesterday just that much more special. As newbies in our first race, my friend Nicole and I were really worried about how it would all play out. But you guys made it seem like a piece of cake! All of the preparation, meetings and clincics made us feel like we were part of the Max family on race day. It was great to see familiar faces and feel like everyone there was rooting for us. The best part? Megan remembered my name and kept shouting "Go Sasha! We love Sasha" in my transitions. It felt like another friend there to cheer me on. I can't thank you enough for making my first race so special and getting me hooked! My second race is next weekend in CT and then I finish the season with you guys at the Buzzards Bay Tri. I can't wait!!

Thank you for all of your hard work,”

Alexandra V.

"p.s. as an event planner myself, I have to say that you guys put on one hell of a party!"

"I just wanted to say thanks for putting on the event this weekend. It must have been a logistical nightmare with the storm. You all did a great job getting everything up and ready to go. Everything ran smoothly and it was a great day."

Christine W.

" First - just wanted to say you guys did an AWESOME job in getting the race site/routes prepped for the race after Hanna went through. I had a great race - and this being only my second triathlon - I would say overall it was a phenomenal experience. You guys had a lot to handle yesterday and I really wanted to thank the organizers and all the great volunteers who made it possible."

Jennifer A.

" Just wanted to let you know that I LOVED the title 9 race, and already have it mentally bookmarked for next year, too. You guys were heroic getting the race up and running so soon after Hanna. Thanks for all your hard work!"

Rebecca C.

Testimonials - Buzzards Bay Participants

"My husband and I have participated in 2 Max Performance races this year--the Buzzards Bay would have been the third. You have set a very high bar for race direction in New England. Your level of communication, on-site organization, the competence of your on-site staff and--most importantly--your concern for the safety and welfare of racers has exceeded our greatest expectations. We have participated in a number of triathlons in the region and none can come close to the standard you have set. The cancellation of Buzzards Bay is consistent with your policy of "safety first" (recalling your ~3:40 AM email regarding thunder storms in Winchendon), and was obviously made in an informed fashion. Thank you, Tim, for Max Performance. We look forward to next season and more great races."

Best regards,
Deborah

"Your cancelling the race becaue it is supposed to rain? I'll make sure to never do another of your races again."

(Name and email address available upon request!)

"After 20 years in this sport I must say I appreciate your efforts to both refund part of the $$ and pass out the ( hopefully ) Tee shirts & goodie bags. I was very disappointed not to end the season with Buzzards Bay- But know you made the right choice. It was also very kind of you to tell us the night before hand and not after we all got up at 4:00 am brought all out our gear and drove 2 hours.... A bunch of my fellow team mates were on thee way down to the cape to spend the night when I shot off your e mail. They were much appreciative as well. Agian thanks & hope to see you next year."

Bonnie

"Now you’ve gone and done it!! NOW I have to be productive on Sunday morning!!! I have to do YARDWORK and SILLY PROJECTS AROUND THE HOUSE!"

Vin

"Tim I cannot say that I am not upset. Since this is my firstTri I invested in over 300 for the race.. HOWEVER, I completely understand and commend you for you decision!!!! You have made the right decision. The safety of the participants is the most important objective. I know for a fact that many beginners have signed up for this race. Your decision may have saved a life! Remember, decisions are difficult things to make and from one man to another I say THANK YOU...."

Rob

"Congrats on making a difficult and responsible decision. We all know when we sign on that there is a weather factor... and it's clear you have the best interest of the athlete in mind."

Manya

"Definitely disappointed, but absolutely the right call. Thanks for the early decision-making process."

Matthew

"Thank you, Tim! This is so great of your company to offer the goodie bags, some of our $$ back and the follow-up emails. I will definately continue to do my racing with ya'll!"

Thanks again!
Wendy

"Totally bummed, but understandable. Seems it was the only reasonable decision. See you next season!"

"The most well organized race I’ve experienced and I've been to many. From your pre-race Athlete Packet to your organization, it was great."

Michael Z.

“I thought the race and the race course were superb. Everything on the run and bike courses were well-marked, easy to follow and challenging. The distances were accurate, the transition area, the post-race and pre-race food and music were wonderful. Thank you for coming into the Metrowest Area to do these races. I’m looking forward to the next one.”

Dean M.

“Wow! Simply put, phenomenal race. You guys had amazing organization, picked a great site - challenging but not crazy. And, the vendor tents, raffles and food were awesome. Even the T-shirts were first class. I’ve already told all my friends about you guys.”

Denise C.

“What a well-run event. Honestly, I've been in a lot of "races" and your event tops the list. Also, your volunteers were spectacular: Smiles & encouragement everywhere!” Thanks for a great day!”

Kathleen K.

“You guys are really good. The event was very well organized and I've never had anyone send a follow-up e-mail before the day after the race! My wife and I look forward to being in the back of the pack at one of your future races!”

Joe R.

“Post race recap – great early season race, promoter did a super job, new ITU style bike racks were sweet, race announcer was energetic and good food. Mark this race for your 2008 season and check out their others.”

“Great race yesterday. It was run very well. The staff were great and helpful and in a good mood despite the cold. The routes were fun and a challenge (the uphill for the second run was loads of fun - eek!). It was a great way for me to start the season. Best of luck to you!

Lynn S.

“I wanted to congratulate you on a well run Duathon. The setup of the transition area was very good, and the race was safe, organized, and the location was a very good selection. I'm really looking forward to the remainder of your race series and your next race on July 29th. I have already start to spread the word about your races to other triathletes as well as members of my running club.”

Testimonials - Mass. State Participants

“This was the first MAX Performance race I had done -- I can not say enough good things. I do not have a single complaint. They whole organization was very professional! I would totally recommend doing a race by these guys.”

Pat S.

“Great race Max! I had a choice of doing Danskin or your race. Yours was a better choice. I liked the hill on the bike because it made the down-hill a ton of fun (and these races should be fun). You had great communication by the volunteers and I loved the MC at the finish line too!”

Claire M.

“You guys rock! What a venue and what a race. Safe, well-marked courses, right # of participants and exceptional race organization. Your attention to detail was most impressive. Thank you.”

Abby Y.

“Thanks for a very well-run and fun event. Very pleasant staff, nice atmosphere, beautiful location, good swim-wave spacing, great bike racks and TA. Little better conditioned road at the start would have perfected the day. A friend of mine and I just signed up for your next 2 races at Gardner and Hopkinton.”

Jim H.

“Thanks for the caring! The race was great, from the goody bag to the beautiful location. Other race entrance fees have gone up so much without any quality improvement, but yours was refreshing. Felt nice to be treated like a triathlete again. Thanks!”

Alexsandro S.

“I thought you guys put on a great job out there! Everything with the setup, registration, swim and volunteers you had were great! Those new bike racks worked perfect (and I have 650cc wheels) and bike/run courses were great from a traffic/car perspective. It was great race and I heard lots of good feedback from anyone who did it!! Thanks again!”

Maureen F.

“I wanted to thank you for giving me a FANTASTIC introduction to triathlons...it was so hard but so fun. The people were amazing - I am absolutely inspired to do more. I LOVED it, thanks so much.”

Erica S.

“Great race. Drove up from RI and it was well worth the trip. The race venue was great as spectators, kids and dogs could watch the triathletes in the transition area. The MC for the race was great as was the music throughout the day. Bathroom facilities were much appreciated. Organization of racers and transition area was impressive. The bike racking system left more room than usual to set up. The Hoyts were inspirational as always. The race had a great vibe and I am looking forward to next year.”

Christian C.

“Congratulations should go to you guys! The race was very well organized and a joy to participate in. Yu should be commended on a great race. I'll be back.

Joe B.

“The race was great. I was impressed at your organizations professionalism. As a business owner, I can appreciate how difficult it is to execute an event like yesterdays.”

Simon O.

“First of all, thanks for putting on a great race. It being my first one, everything was clear to me on what I needed to be doing and when. So thanks to you and all the volunteers for all your hard work. Looking forward to Gilligans.”

Rob O.

“Thanks for organizing a great race today!! I was impressed how you guys handled all the activities from start to finish. I look forward to next year. Congrats to you and your team!”

Carol J.

“Real well organized and run race - all turns/intersections well marked and manned with volunteers/police, able to pick-up my race stuff very quickly (pet-peeve of mine), ample port-o-johns and an excellent transition area.”

Glenn S.

“Thanks for a really nice race yesterday. The location was beautiful and I really liked the white buoys in the swim so much better than the typical orange swim buoys. People (competitors, officials, volunteers, spectators) were so nice; although more cow bells would always be good. See you at two more of your races this year—Gilligan’s Triathlon (can’t miss it with a name like that) and the Buzzard’s Bay triathlon.”

Elaine V.

"Great Race! You certainly put a lot of effort into managing the event and it showed! I will certainly race with Max Performance in the future! It's nice to be involved with an event that is well managed and organized. Your staff were very friendly and well informed. My wife, as a spectator of many, many events, says that yours should be the example for everyone else to follow. So many others never take the spectators into consideration. You had a great location for them to watch everything and refreshments, (having coffee on site is HUGE!). The DJ was a great touch too, He was very entertaining and kept the crowd involved in the race. Thanks again, I look forward to racing with you in the future!"

Testimonials - Gilligan's Triathlon Participants

“This was my first time participating in a triathlon and among my group of three friends (other first timers) this was a great race. It was incredibly organized. Course was well mapped, volunteers were friendly and the course was challenging but fun. I actually have a friend who participated in the Danskin tri and she mentioned that your race blew it out of the water with regards to organization etc. All three newbies who did the Gilligan tri have already signed up for the sweet 16 if that is any indication of how we feel about the races.”

Jared S.

“Fantastic race and venue guys. I am so glad I have you as another triathlon option now that you’re in the Boston area. Best of luck and let me know if I can help spread the word somehow.”

Brian B.

“You guys have it down. Your race organization is the best I’ve ever experienced. Each course and the transition area are laid out really well, are safe and are well staffed. Keep up the great work!”

Jen L.

“You guys did a great doing job running this race. I really appreciate the preparation and excellent pre-race communications. The course markings are all well done. Loved having the music! I had a great day!”

Lisa L.

“I had a great time on Sunday. I thought the race was terrific and I still can't get over how organized it was and how smoothly everything went. The swim course was great and relatively un-crowded thanks to the staggered start. The bike course was great, hilly enough, with nice smooth roads. The running piece was a little tough that early part on a bumpy road up that first hill, but the trail part was awesome. I thought the transition area was great, well marked, easy in and out. All of the volunteers were helpful and friendly. Again, I thought it was a great race. Thank you very much for all your efforts.”

Jen T.

“I thought the race was great! Good organization and good, positive energy! Loved the DJ...and the fact that I could hear the music as I ran around the lake on the trail was very motivating. All of the volunteers were great too.”

Sue M.

“Talk about a tremendous place for a triathlon. Each course had some unique and cool aspects and I felt like the entire race was run as smooth as ever. The trail run at the end was different and particularly fun. Be back to Gilligans next year for sure.”

John M.

“I wanted to let you know how impressed I was with the organization of the race - it was really impressive. I have done the Danskin triathlon every year and this event blew it away. Being able to pick up race info the day of was one of the many great features for me... Also the packet that you sent out was great answered all of my questions.”

Heather M.

“This was the first Triathlon that I have ever done and the first really physically challenging event in over 10 years. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and I’ve signed up for the next two events. With no knowledge of other events, I was impressed with the professionalism and organization of the event. I was very nervous about not knowing where I was going or what to expect when I arrived, but you provided very detailed instruction and information packages that made it easy and very comfortable (other than the fear of actually completing the event). I look forward to the next two events.”

Dennis C.

“I participated as a swimmer and runner, along with my biker Don as a team. We've done many other triathlons as teammates, and Don frequently races nearly every weekend. This was the first triathlon with your group---have done the others with "the competition."

Don and I were commenting on how very well run this one was--in all regards. It was very welcoming and supportive to the newbies, who certainly can be intimidated in such events. Well-orchestrated, fun, organized at the start, allowing the swimming waves in the water in an orderly fashion. Started on time. Lots and lots of support (I've been in some events where swimmers are going way off course and are not stopped or redirected--it was nice to see so much help out there in the water, for peace of mind--safety is so crucial! And Don, who is incredibly fast on the bike, has gone way off course in other events for lack of direction / support). The running course was terrific--no traffic, no chance of veering off course and I loved the trail run around the lake!

And when we were leaving at the end, we were stopped politely by the folks who checked to be sure Don belonged with his (very expensive) bike...I've never seen that done. Nice touch. And the t-shirts were cool :-) You guys get A++++ Thanks for a great day.”

Peg S.

“Just wanted to let you know that I had an absolute blast at the tri! It was my first triathlon and I thought that it was run fantastically!! I look forward to competing in more Max tris in the future! Thanks again!”

Becky L.

“This race was awesome!!! The scenery of the routes weren't amazing but everything else was perfect. The music, announcers, personnel and spectators were AWESOME. I had an awesome time and almost caught my husband. We both expected him to win me by over ten minutes but I got close, we now have a future rivalry and will be back to more triathlons to try to beat each other. Thanks for such a GREAT TIME!”

Testimonials - Sweet 16 Participants

Thank you for a great triathlon. I have been doing them around New England for the past 12 years and I must say that this was the best organized and supplied race I have done. The sense of community and support from both the other athletes as well as the volunteers was great! You don't normally see everyone sticking around until the end at most races-it was a nice to see. I am definitely looking forward to your race schedule next year! Thanks!

Melissa R.

Excellent race - great site, real good courses and fantastic organization. Cowbell cheering was fun too. Your volunteers and staff were the most helpful and courteous I’ve ever seen at a triathlon besides.

Len G.

This was my first race with Max and it was extremely well done. Good attention to detail, great transition area, exceptional organization on numerous fronts. Excellent, excellent job! I’ll be telling my friends to join me at the next one.

Ron P.

I thought you put on a great race. You are going to take away business from ----, they are not nearly as organized. You had plenty of people on the bike course showing us where to go, a great announcer, got the crowd excited and good music before hand. Even though some people think it might be a pain, I was asked to show my number to get in and out of transition, this is a good thing, makes me feel comfortable about leaving my bike there. Hope to do more.

Duston L.

I did the race last Sunday and it was great! Everything was very well organized. Even my family who usually get quickly bored and want to leave as soon as possible had a VERY good time with the music in particular. The "ambiance" was great. Thanks for putting together such an event!

Pascal B.

Another great race! The course was beautiful, the staff helpful and everything well marked. Some of my friends are going to try your company now that I have shared my two positive experiences with them. We will see you at Buzzard's Bay!

Tinamarie S.

I had a great time yesterday. I must congratulate you all on a race well planned and executed! The staff at Max Performance were great. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The music was awesome. I now wish I had done more races with Max Performance this year! I will be back next year! Thanks for a great time!

Marianne V.

I had a fantastic time on Sunday, thank you so much. This was my first triathlon and I was VERY impressed by the organization, volunteer staff, attitude, crowd, and competition. I will be registering for the Buzzard's Bay tri and looking at Max Performance for more fun next year! Thank you for fueling my interest in this great sport!

Jay T.

I thought the race was absolutely great! I had so much fun and can't wait to do another one.   I was very impressed by the overall organization of the race -- it seemed like you thought of just about every detail possible! I thought the transition area was very clearly marked, there were plenty of volunteers to tell you where to go/what to do, and the frequent announcements gave us lots of warning as to where to go and by when. I also loved the festive atmosphere throughout the morning -- the music kept everything upbeat and made me feel less nervous about the race. The other thing I was really impressed with is the support you provide to “newbies." I filled out the "contact us" form on your website and almost immediately received an acknowledgement e-mail from a RD. He told me he'd call me the next day, which he did. He spent quite a bit of time on the phone with me answering questions and giving me advice. I can't tell you how much I appreciated the support! You definitely have me hooked!

Stephanie W.

I thought I would give you a little feedback on your race if I may. This is my first year doing tri's in the 50-54 age group and yours was my 3rd outdoor and first with Max Performance. I thought you ran the most fan-friendly race I have been in. The "vibe", vendors, amenities were all great. I woke up with a stiff neck that advil was not taking care of and to find a therapist who gave me 5-min attention pre-race did more for my attitude than anything. The DJ and tunes were great. The race was great and you will definitely have me as a customer next year.

Scott M.

“In regards to race feedback, I have to say, I think this was a very well run, well organized race. This is my second triathlon, and in comparison to my first, this one was a lot more organized- from information ahead of time, a wonderful informative website, emails leading up to the race (the race packet, maps, etc.), up to race day which was very well organized as well. I also found it very motivational with the music and just the whole setup! I had a great experience with everything, and want to thank all the organizers of this race for really making it a great time. The course was well marked, set up, and safe. Thank you!”

Meg A.

“Great race! The Boston area has been looking for a triathlon organization like you for a while. You’re filling a void with high quality races and not going the quantity over quality route. Keep up the good work and let me know if I can help in any way.”

Testimonials - Buzzards Bay Participants

“That was the best race of the year (of 7!). Nothing beats an ocean swim and a great bike ride.  Loved the mile markers each mile on the run (thank you) and I think it was the most enthusiastic, loudest post-race crowd yet. Every finisher was greeted by applause and clanging cowbells. Nice job!”

Claire M.

“I did both Sweet 16 and Buzzard's Bay Triathlon.  I have to preface my remarks by first telling you that I am a veteran triathlete with over 200 or so triathlons under my tired legs.  I started doing tri's when no one was doing triathlons (early 80's) and I have completed 3 Ironman, including Ironman Hawaii.

I thought your races were very well organized and I appreciate the enthusiasm of all the workers who are involved in putting on the race.  I thought the Sweet 16 was a great course, especially the run which included the last half mile or so over the water (that is a nice touch). Because of the lateness in the season, I thought Dartmouth would be small and was a little hesitant in applying. But, it was the opposite, the day was great, the competition was excellent and the location was fantastic.  What a great place to have a triathlon.  I brought along 3 other races and everyone had a great time.  The raffles at the end are a good touch and it makes the athletes stay around in order to try to win some of those good prizes.

Good Luck with your preparation for next season.  You and your staff have done a great job.”

Bob B.

“What a tremendous event.   Your crew and all of the volunteers did an awesome job - congratulations!   I will definitely be back to Buzzard's Bay and to other Max Performance races.  Keep up the great work and thanks again.”

Chris. H

“I thought you and your team did a really good job with the race.  I especially liked the race announcers.  The energy of your team certainly did not go unnoticed.  All in all a fun day and great way to extend the tri season a couple of weeks.  I expect to be back next year.”

Mike L.

“It was a great race.  I hope you'll keep this venue.  The swim was really interesting because we could see bottom the whole time, but it was plenty deep (I tried to stand once and it was over my head).  The bike ride was amazing and everything was really well marked.   Great job.  Thanks for putting on an exciting day for all of us.”

Kevin K.

“I'm 57 and have been doing triathlons for the past 8 years.  I've done all the different distances, and this was my first Max Performance race.  This was a great race.  I was very impressed with how well organized it was, and I've done enough of them to know the difference.  I loved the spirit and the atmosphere, al the music and the staff and volunteers were great. I can't wait until next year to do more of your events.  Also, the setting and the course were beautiful.

Joe G.

“ I thought the race was great! (Although not so very impressed with my performance!) I didn’t get to stick around for the raffles and awards, but I thought the organization was pretty darn good.  You guys did a great job w/ emails and details and I loved the way you set up the ‘look’ of the finish. I really liked the humor and down-to-earth tone of all the correspondence. That was a pleasant change to the typically sterile emails and very serious tone of most races. I even liked the bike racks a lot too! (very organized space-wise)”.

Kathy E.

“Hey,  I am no expert,  an  "athletically" mother of five, usually do 2 -3 sprints per summer, a couple of road races, completed 1 full Rock-n-roll marathon, a couple halves in the past 5 years between babies,  but, I think this was one of the best I have ever done.  Very organized, great excitement, easy to get to everything post race refreshments, parking, music, prizes etc...  I loved it.  Not to mention the BEAUTIFUL swim and bike ride”.

Liz A.

“Thanks for putting on such a well-organized race -- I particularly appreciated the large buoys and in and out of transition timing mats as well as of course, a well-marshaled route.”

Paul M.

“I enjoyed all three Max races I did this year and was impressed at the levels of commitment, passion and meticulous preparation that everyone put into each one. However, Buzzards Bay surpassed my expectations by far as a spectacular venue and course and the dedication of all RDs, volunteers, police and park officials was by far the best I've seen. Careful attention to every detail including the two complete sound set ups and DJs showed that Max Performance lived up to its promise for this year. The communication with police and park officials and volunteers and vendors and their responsiveness to us as triathletes was key in making this race safe and fun and I think the Buzzards Bay Tri is going to be your signature race for years to come. It was great to have a late season race and I'm very much looking forward to next year's races.”
